Philosophy is the quest for knowledge through philosophical examinations and analytical reasoning. The significant discrepancy between religion and philosophy is in its definition. Religion has to do with the hypothesis of the supreme authority and worshipping it as the founder and regulator of the heavens and earth without any reason. Religion has to do with exercises and traditions, while philosophy is all about metaphysics. A religion teaches its devotees the things they ought to do and things they ought not to do. Usually, a religion offers dividends and discipline.

Philosophy doesn’t agree with everything the way religion does until proof exists. On the contrary, philosophy investigates and queries to obtain the right and logical explanations. An instance is an assumption that individuals who live a good life will go to heaven, and those living a wayward life will go to hell.

What is Religion?

Religion is described as an assumption and possesses some principles of behaviours, moralities, doctrines, and morals to obey in one’s life. There are so many religions in the world. This implies that individuals today follow various types of religion, which cover multiple groups of morals, doctrines, moralities, and principles of behaviours to obey for their disciples. In religion, we have Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Zoroastrianism, and others to mention. Every one of these religions mentioned recommends a different group of doctrines, morals, and principles, together with traditions, to obey by the individuals of that respective religion. Religion focuses on the rendition of rites. On the contrary, if one is religious, one can not escape the rituals and rites of their religion as they become parts of their life

What is Philosophy?

Contrary to religion, philosophy talks about the culmination of the supreme fact. It has to do with the subject of life after death. It talks about the reality of the soul and life after earth. Philosophy affirms the divine essence of man. It queries the fact that each soul is conceivably divine. To the Oxford English dictionary, philosophy is also described as the investigation of the theoretical ground of a specific department of proficiency or awareness. This term proves philosophy is connected to religion.

An instance is the philosophy of science. As religion keeps up with the rendition of traditions, philosophy, on the other hand, does not underline the ritualistic facets of life. Philosophy is construed as a method of reflection—a significant reason why philosophers are described as thinkers. And the propagators of faith are described as leaders.

Difference Between Religion and Philosophy

Religion has to do with the assumption of the supreme authority and glorifying it as the universe’s architect without any reason. Philosophy, on the other hand, is the quest for knowledge through scholarly investigations and analytical reasoning. Religion disciplines individuals using the principles of behaviour, principles, and morality. Philosophy, on the other hand, depends on honest self-discipline. Religion has to do with procedures and traditions. Philosophy on its own has to do with metaphysics. Religion keeps up with the performance of traditions, whereas philosophy does not underline the ritualistic facets of life.
