What is Shame?

Shame can be described as distress from the understanding that an individual has done something unfair or foolish. This is a very intense feeling that is connected to remorse. The unique feature is that when experiencing shame, the person immerses in a procedure described as introspection. He queries his morality. This has to do with suspicions about whether his act was moral. The person discovers his action has been wrong and immoral through this procedure. For instance, imagine a worker who engages in an illicit movement to better his life opportunities within a firm. An example can also be a parent who has not finalized his part as a parent. In both situations, the person feels distressed when he finds out he has engaged in an unfair action. In the first instance, it is the illicit actions of the worker. In the second instance, it is the absence of attention and care toward the child by the parents or guardians. Although, embarrassment does not imply the same thing as shame. It does not have to do with introspection or the queries of one’s morality.

What is an Embarrassment?

Embarrassment often comes from our tensions or anxieties about others which may have to do with what they feel and what they would say.
