Phil Foden, a forward for Manchester City, has claimed that Mikel Arteta has helped make Arsenal’s style of play more akin to that of the Premier League champions.
Before taking over as manager of Arsenal in 2019, Arteta worked with Pep Guardiola.
After a disappointing first full season, Arteta is almost ready to help Arsenal win the league title for the first time since 2004.
With 11 games left, the Gunners are five points ahead of City.
Henry Winter of The Times wrote that Foden said in City’s matchday programme: “They have a great manager in Mikel,” said Foden. “We all knew how he was. Mikel has great ideas and understands how we play as well. He has taken that to Arsenal and they look similar to us and look very strong.”
Arsenal will play on Thursday night when they host Sporting Lisbon in the second leg of their Europa League round 16 match.
Arsenal played the Portuguese giants to a draw in the opening leg of the match, which ended 2-2.
