Terrorists kill 12 security operatives in Kaduna ambush

At least three police officers were killed on Sunday when gunmen stormed a roadblock in Enugu State, according to authorities and locals. This is the latest violent incident in an area where separatist tensions are high.

Seven officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and five other people from other security agencies have been killed in an ambush by terrorists.

The unfortunate event occurred at the Kuriga mining site in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna in Nigeria.

Mr Olusola Odumosu, Director of Public Relations for the NSCDC, spoke with journalists on Tuesday, providing details of the attack.

Odumosu reported that one NSCDC member was injured during the incident but managed to flee and is now receiving medical attention.

Odumosu described the attack, which took place on Monday at about 10 a.m., as tragic and a significant loss for the Corps and the victim’s family.

He further stated that the officers’ bodies and men had been brought to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna and that the attackers had taken their rifles.

In addition, three more officials from the Corps’ National Headquarters were killed in an automobile accident on Monday night.

The accident victims were female workers and two male operators.
