Lola Ade-John, a seasoned banking expert and Nigeria’s Minister of Tourism, boasts an impressive professional track record. Appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ade-John has held prominent positions at Access Bank, United Bank for Africa, Ecobank, and Novateur Business Technology.
Starting her academic journey at the University of Ibadan, Lola Ade-John earned a B.Sc. in Computer Science in 1984. Her outstanding academic performance secured her the position of top graduate in her class with a Second Class Upper honors degree.
Her professional foray began with a National Youth Service assignment, where she supported systems used by Petroleum Engineers and the Personnel department in various divisions. This was followed by a seven-year tenure at The Shell Petroleum Development Company Of Nigeria Ltd as a System Analyst from September 1984 to November 1991.
Ade-John continued to rise through the ranks, serving as Group Head of Corporate Services and Technology from November 1991 to June 1998. In June 1998, she joined Access Bank Plc as Group Head of Support Services and Technology, a role she held for over 13 years until June 2001.
Lola Ade-John’s banking sector journey continued with a four-year, eight-month stint as the Head of Applications at United Bank for Africa from June 2001 to January 2006. Soon after, she joined Ecobank Nigeria as Technology Integration Manager, where she worked for over seven years, from February 2006 to March 2013.
In 2014, Lola Ade-John founded her company, Novateur Business Technology Consultants Ltd., leveraging her extensive skills in Business Technology Strategy and Process Re-Engineering, Business-to-Technology Process and Solutions Design, Business Continuity Planning, Application and Infrastructure Integration Management, Policy Creation and Implementation, Contract and Service Level Agreement (SLA) Negotiations, and First-Level Business Technology Support.
On August 16th, 2023, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Lola Ade-John as the Minister of Tourism of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, recognizing her exceptional contributions and leadership in the banking and technology sectors.
