Group condemns incessant cult clashes in Ogun

A Sociocultural Non-Governmental Organisation, Aviary Association Worldwide, Gateway Aviary, has condemned the recent upsurge in cult clashes and killings in Ogun State.

The condemnation was made by the Public Relations Officer of the NGO, Prince Babatunde Oyekan while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta the state capital.

According to him, hooliganism and cultism should not be a way of life and must be discouraged.

He said that the loss of human lives as a result of the bloody violent cult clashes was worrisome, calling on the security agencies to fish out the masterminds of the killings and ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

“I condemn in totality the incessant cult clashes which have claimed several lives in the state. It is barbaric and inhuman to kill fellow human beings under any guise.

“The spate of unrest and activities of cultists have instilled phobia in the residents with residents finding it difficult to sleep with two eyes closed,”

While commending the security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police for their swift responses and arrests of numerous suspects so far, the NGO also advocated a beef-up of security in the state, most especially the flashpoints, to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

He said that the government’s commitment to the security of lives and property of its citizens was non-negotiable and must be guaranteed.
