Northern elders mourn Ohanaeze leader

Dr Orji Kalu, a former governor of Abia State and the Senate's chief whip, has lamented the death of Prof. George Obiozor, president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo.

The late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador George Obiozor, has been hailed by the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) as a great Nigerian whose life exemplified the truth that the vast majority of Nigerians are capable of serving the country and their cultural identities with distinction and honour.

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) released a statement mourning the loss of Ambassador Obiozor, which was signed by Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the organisation’s Director of Publicity and Advocacy.

“He had given Nigeria his best and had died on his feet searching for solutions to its multiple contemporary challenges.

“It is even sadder that Ambassador Obiozor died while leading his organisation towards a historic rapprochement with the rest of Nigeria.

“It will be challenging to fill the shoes left by Ambassador Obiozor, but Northern Elders Forum prays that the organisation will find a leader who will continue with his inspirational leadership.

“The Forum extends its condolences to his family, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Nigerian over this great loss”, the group said in a statement.
