The Provost of Ondo State College of Health Technology, Akure, Ondo State, Dr Felix Olawoye, has disclosed that the college offered services to its host community to ameliorate the pressure on government health facilities in the state capital.
He stated this during the inauguration of an office block in the institution performed by the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health, Mrs Folukemi Aladenola.
Dr Olawoye explained that the institution has a health centre that availed its professionals the opportunity to render qualitative health services to members of staff and residents of the host community.
While inaugurating the structure, the permanent secretary, who is a pharmacist, commended the provost for what she described as an outstanding performance.
She noted that the hard work and diligence of the provost paved way for the institution to tower above its contemporaries.
Speaking on the fully accredited Department of Pharmaceutical Technician Laboratory of the institution, Mrs Aladenola promised that the state government would continue to support the institution despite scarce resources.
She charged all members of staff of the College to support the vision of the provost for speedy development of the institution.
According to the permanent secretary, “You will not gain anything by having rivalry or departmental conflicts. If you want to continue to enjoy the best of Mr Governor and the ministry, continue to work together.
“Accord your superior, the provost, the needed respect. He is the one representing the governor and the permanent secretary here.
“Whatever you do, align with his vision. Once you don’t belief in him and you start working against him, and he reports you, you will face disciplinary action.”
However, the provost appreciated the permanent secretary for her immense contributions to the institution, disclosing that she facilitated the full accreditation of the College’s Department of Pharmaceutical Technician Laboratory.
He said with the facilities available in the department, it ranked among the best in the country.
Dr. Olawoye disclosed that the institution had excelled in various external examinations.
