Ahead of 2019 general election, supporters of All Progressives Congress in Adamawa have launched “Operation deliver your units” for Buhari/Governor Bindow and all other APC candidates.
At the inaugural meeting of the group on Saturday in Yola, supporters trooped in from all the 21 local government areas of the state.
The Director General of the volunteer group, Alhaji Abubakar Mai-Anguwa said members would form unit committees, comprising 111 persons, for house-to-house mobilisation of voters for the party.
Mai-Anguwa said that the APC led federal and state governments, under President Buhari and Governor Muhammadu Bindow, have done a lot for Adamawa and deserved massive support to continue in 2019.
He said: “We will go and refresh the minds of our people, particularly at the grassroots, on developments recorded in the state under the APC administration.
“Progress has been made in the areas of security, infrastructure, agriculture and empowerment.
“The people of Adamawa have no reason not to vote APC again and we need to make them see that reason.’’
Also speaking, the Adamawa Central Zone Chairman of Buhari/Bindow for 2019, Alhaji Mohammadu Barkindo, assured the group of support from the zone.
Barkindo urged Nigerians to appreciate Buhari’s effort to address the problems created by 16 years of PDP administration, within the past three years.
He said: “It’s not easy to address challenges created in 16 years in just three years.
“Nigerians should be patient and appreciate the effort made so far by this administration.”
In his remarks, the Adamawa State APC chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal, lauded the volunteers’ effort to ensure the party’s victory at all levels.
Bilal, who was represented by the State Organising Secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, said that elected representatives, particularly the president and state governor, have simplified their job with the dividends of democracy so far provided in the state.
He said: “Adamawa is an APC State, and with your support, we shall ensure President Buhari and Governor Bindow score the highest vote ever by any presidential and governorship candidates in Adamawa come 2019 elections.’’
