2023: Sokoto PRP collapses party structures, candidates join APC

Sokoto State Peoples Redemption Party's internal party structure merged with that of the All Progressives Congress in the state with only a few months left before the 2023 general elections.

Sokoto State Peoples Redemption Party’s internal party structure merged with that of the All Progressives Congress in the state with only a few months left before the 2023 general elections.

Under the leadership of the gubernatorial candidate, Sa’idu Muhammad Gumburawa, the whole party apparatus has switched allegiances to the APC.

All three contenders for the state’s senate seats, all candidates for the House of Representatives and state assembly, and all state and local party executives have defected.

Sa’idu Muhammad Gumburawa, the party’s leader and the state’s gubernatorial candidate, informed Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the leader of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), that his supporters had decided to leave the party to do their part in helping the APC win the state in the 2023 elections.

He went on to say that the people of the state had come to APC to work with its leaders to win the elections fairly and restore the state to its former glory, as it had been under the administration of former governor Aliyu Wamakko, because of the dire circumstances under the PDP-led government.

Wamakko spoke to Gumburawa as a friend and a partner in progress in his speech as he welcomed the defectors into APC.

He was pleased to have joined APC and said it was the party for everybody who wants to see development in Sokoto State.

He told Gumburawa that the APC would work closely with him and his many followers to maintain a cordial and productive relationship at all times.

In addition, Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, the APC governorship candidate in the state, congratulated Gumburawa and his allies on joining the APC and promised them the same respect accorded to every other member of the APC family.

If elected, Ahmad Aliyu has promised to bring everyone along with him to improve the state’s healthcare system, educational development, trade and investment climate, agricultural landscape, and the lives of state employees.

Sokoto East and South Senatorial District APC Senators Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba Dambuwa and Engr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Gobir attended the mini-event hosted at the residence of APC leader Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, and Member of the House of Representatives for Kware/Wamakko Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina, were there.
