Bauchi governor dissolves council caretaker committees

Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed has lamented how the novel Coronavirus has hindered preparations for local government elections in the state.

Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed has approved the dissolution of caretaker chairmen, their deputies and councillors of all 20 local government areas of the state.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mohammed Sabi’u Baba on Wednesday, the governor said he was dissolving the caretaker committee to provide level playing ground for all contestants in the forthcoming local government elections.

“Following the release of timetable for the forthcoming local government council elections in the state and in compliance with the guidelines issued by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) for provision of 30 days notice by all candidates who wish to participate in the election, His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (CON), the Executive Governor of Bauchi State has approved the dissolution of local government councils in the state with immediate effect. This action is taken to provide level playing ground for all contestants.

“Accordingly, all local government heads of administration are hereby directed to over affairs of their local governments. His excellency, the governor wishes to thank the outgoing chairmen, deputy chairmen and councillors for meritorious services rendered to the state and pray for success in their future endeavours,” the statement reads.
