Congress: Taraba APC stakeholders disagree over mode of primaries

All Progressives Congress (APC) Nigeria

An attempt by stakeholders of the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressive Congress to arrive at a consensus arrangement as the mode of primaries has failed.

Critical stakeholders of the party including the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, and Senator Yusuf A. Yusuf, are battling to reach a compromise on how ward leaders would emerge.

A chieftain of the party who is loyal to Senator Yusuf, in an interview with our correspondent, in Jalingo, on Sunday said disagreements over the mode of congresses was the reason why congresses did not hold in the state on Saturday.

He said, “The Minister does not want consensus while other critical stakeholders agreed to a consensus.

“The Minister is against consensus, because he is plotting to install Ibrahim Goje as the next Chairman of the Party to enable him to have full control of the party ahead of 2023.

“In the power game, the first move is to dislodge the executives of the party from the ward level. The precedent will be that all the party executives will not emerge through consensus.”
