Baze University: What You Need Know About Institution Where Nigerian Politicians Bag Degrees

Baze University is a private tertiary university found in Abuja, Nigeria. It was formed in 2011 and provides an education that meets the basic standard. The National Universities Commission (NUC) granted the university a provisional license on March 7 of the same year it was founded (2011). The university also acquired its provisional license in 2011. On the 50,000 square meter campus, the academic year began with 17 students and 17 teaching staff members, all housed in the same building. Almost immediately after that, construction began on the Administrative Block, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, and the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

Construction on the University Teaching Hospital started in 2021 and is scheduled to be finished the following calendar year. There is already a complex that houses the Library, a complex that houses the staff, and a students’ hostel that consists of two separate blocks for males and females and has a capacity for 500 students in each block. The university has had Convocation Ceremonies for six years in a row and has produced graduates in various fields.

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who was a candidate for vice president in the Labour Party for the 2023 general election in Nigeria, is the man who established Baze University. The university was founded in 2011, the same year that he ran for and won the Kaduna North Senatorial elections under the flag of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), which President Muhammadu Buhari then led. However, a candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) contested the election in court, which resulted in the controversial winner’s victory being overturned. In April 2003, he won the election to represent the Zaria Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives by running on the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) platform. Kaduna State is his home state. Additionally, he serves in this capacity at Baze Research and Data Services Ltd as the Managing Director.

The following faculties at Baze University offer a combined total of 43 undergraduate degree programs: the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, and the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Baze University also has a Faculty of Engineering. The following types of degrees can be earned through the institution’s postgraduate school: M.Sc. degrees in Animal and Environmental Science, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, International Relations and Diplomacy, Management, Mass Communication, Parasitology, Public Administration, Sociology, Intelligence and Global Security, Security, Leadership and Society, Intelligence and Global Security, Security, Leadership and Society; Masters of Business Administration ( MBA) and Masters of Law (LLM).

Goodluck Jonathan, who had previously served as President of Nigeria, was a guest at Baze University’s 4th convocation event in 2017, around two years after he had left office. The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) partnered with Baze University in 2017. This partnership aimed to integrate and embed the ACCA curriculum into the university curriculum to increase the number of finance and accounting professionals working in the African sub-region. For financial reasons related to the recession, the government of Sokoto state relocated 39 of its citizens who had been funded to study in Dubai from various universities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Baze University, Abuja, in 2016.

Osita Chidoka, a former minister of aviation in Nigeria, Dino Melaye, a former senator in Nigeria, and most recently, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State who is also a former Minister of Transportation, are just some of the Nigerian politicians who have earned degrees from accredited academic institutions.
