Akwa United overpower neighbors Dakkada to extends their unbeaten run

Akwa United defender, David Phillip, has dedicated his first career goal to God and his wife.

Akwa United retains their lead on the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League with a 0-2 away win over neighbours Dakkada FC on Match-day 21 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

The Promise Keepers went into the match as the most in form team with 10 matches unbeaten, while Dakadda were trying to bounce back from 2-0 defeat they suffered at Rivers United last Sunday.

Akwa United settled quickly into the match and deservely took the lead inside the opening ten minutes.

Charles Atshimene gave his team the lead in the 10th minute whenhe smashed home Etim Mathew’s pass from close range.

The striker doubled his team’s advantage early into the second half, finishing off a brilliant team move assisted by Akarandut Orok.

The victory extended the Promise Keepers unbeaten run in the league to eleven matches (7 wins and 4 draws) and also increased their tally on the log to 40 points from 21 games.

The Promise Keepers will next lock horns with Enugu Rangers on Match-day 22 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions.
