David Okereke saves Brugge’s blushes against Liege

Club Brugge coach Philippe Clement has back Nigerian U23 striker David Okereke to end goal drought when they face Anderlecht at Jan Breydel Stadium on Sunday.

Nigerian striker David Okereke saved Club Brugge from a home defeat after he scored the equaliser in a Belgian Jupiler league game against Standard Liege at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Sunday.

Super Eagles’ winger Emmanuel Dennis and Dream Team VII attacker David Okereke made the match day squad of Club Brugge but it was only Okereke who started on the match.

The visitors, Standard Liege took the lead through Samuel Bastien in the 5th minute to silence the vociferous Brugge’s fans but Okereke levelled scores in the 47th minute following distinctive footwork by Ruud Vommer.

All the efforts of the two teams to add to their tally proved abortive as the game ended in 1-1 at the regulation time.
