Stoke City join race for Mikel Obi

Former Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel has reacted for the first time after his contract termination by Trabzonspor over coronavirus comment.

Former Nigeria international, Mikel Obi could be heading to English Nationwide side Stoke City if reports emanating from England are anything to go by.

According to Stoke City Sentinel, the 33-year-old is wanted by the club’s manager, Michael O’Neil who is desperately in need of a holding midfielder.

Mikel has been a free agent since parting ways with Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor in March.

Mikel has also been linked to Brazilian side, Botafogo, Internacional and newly-promoted English Premier League side, West Bromich Albion.

A vastly experienced player with more than 350 appearances for Chelsea, he won multiple titles during his time with the Blues.
